On Thursday 5 May Lloydminster hosted the Emergency Management Conference called “Catch a Fire”. The event was well attended. The Sask/Alta Radio club was invited and we set up a display as seen in the picture.
Don VE6VAC and I VE5JM demonstrated the RMS express, The ATV system and had some videos running about Ham Radio and emergency operations.
We had speakers on the following topics La Ronge Fire Evacuations: Provincial Interoperability, Mass Casualty Incident Response and Recovery, HR Issues in Disaster: Have you thought about them?, and the Key Note Speaker speaking on Lac Megantic: Lessons Learned. It was well worth the time and money and there was a lot to learn and take away from the event. Thank you to the City Emergency Management for hosting and to all the presenters for their speeches and good information.
